About Manufacturing and Design at John F. Kennedy High School
WHO WE ARE
MaD is a four-year small learning community at JFK high school with a focus on college and career readiness. MaD is designed as a rigorous academic speciality program focused on STEM principles in product design and development, fabrication and manufacturing engineering processes.
The rigorous sequence of courses and classroom experiences infused with cross curricular problem-based projects and practical applications encourage outcome-based learning and celebrate all students’ achievements with many students participating in Honors or AP courses.
Students receive both the benefits of attending school with a small community of students and the experience of a comprehensive high school. Students are cohort scheduled in a MaD elective, English and Social Science. This allows students to work with other highly engaged students and teachers. Our four-year sequence allows for exploration of many engineering related fields of study at the university level as well.
College success is where MaD students shine the brightest.
MaD students have a distinguished record of admission, attendance and graduation from the top private colleges and universities in the country including Stanford, MIT, Cal Poly, Rensselaer Poly Tech, UC Davis and UC Berkeley
Many students go on to pursue engineering and IT careers with some of the top engineering and aerospace companies in the world
