REQUIRED COURSES BY GRADE
FRESHMAN YEAR
Students will learn the basics of engineering, from the programs we use to how to use a 3D printer. They will also go over drafting and the building of skills in Fusion 360 and Onshape, two professional grade drawing software tools we use in the MaD program. Classes required include:

SOPHOMORE YEAR
As a sophomore in the MaD program, students will be perfecting their Fusion 360 skills that they started learning freshmen year. Students will also learn how to use the CNC (Computer Numeric Control) machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software. They will take the S/P2 General Machining Safety course and begin uses tools in the shop such as power tools, CNC Routers, 3D Printers, and a CNC Laser. Additionally, students will work on design projects such as reverse engineering patents, and creating complex machines based around Archimedes six simple machines. Classes required include:

JUNIOR YEAR
As a junior in the MaD program, students will be reviewing and refining their Fusion 360 and CAM skills. In the first semester students will be introduced to our Haas Mills and begin to learn how to safely operate, and run programs on our TM2, Super Mini Mill, and Mini Mill machines. During the second semester students will be tasked with machining a required number of parts and perform quality control checks. In addition to this, students will have various design projects that range from designing and manufacturing a watch for the visually impaired, to a motorized zip-line cart. Classes required include:
|
SENIOR YEAR
As a senior in the MaD program, students will be reviewing all manufacturing and design skills they've learned from prior years. Over the first semester of senior year, students will learn about Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, calculating and setting up feeds and speeds for CNC Mills, CNC Turning, multi-op parts and various design projects. Throughout the second semester students will work on manufacturing parts that observe GD&T standards, and create multi-part assemblies that must fit together, as well as more advanced design projects.
